The below ride height charts list the ride heights by Disney World park. If a child meets the height requirement but is under 7 years of age they still are not allowed to ride unaccompanied. Cast Members may ask that shoes be removed if high heel shoes are being worn to try intentionally fool the height restrictions. Measurements are taken outside of the queue and again before boarding the ride vehicle for children who are close to the height requirement. Children must also be tall enough to reach ride handrails on a variety of rides to help secure them in place.Ĭast members will ask children to stand next to the measuring sign if they appear to be too short. A child must be tall enough to mount and dismount rides safely because injuries such as twisted ankles are common. Safety is the main reason for implementing minimum height requirements on some of the rides. However, there are a number of Disney World rides that do have minimum height requirements. I hope this overview of the play areas at Magic Kingdom is helpful! I highly recommend enjoying at least one of these spots on your next trip down Main Street USA.There are many Disney World rides and attractions that do not have ride height restrictions. You’ll find Swiss Family Treehouse next to the Jungle Cruise. While there aren’t as many “play” elements here, it’s a nice little adventure. The Swiss Family Treehouse is another great opportunity for your little ones to get out of the stroller and explore! You climb up this larger than life treehouse and get to see fun bedrooms, a kitchen with food, a dining space, etc. Swiss Family TreehouseĪgain, hesitated to include this one but it’s also a must-do that often is skipped over. You’ll miss this if you use a FastPass so keep that in mind. I hesitated to include this one because *technically* it’s not a playground BUT it’s a lot of fun and my kids always ask to do this so I figured I’d rather share it than leave it out!Īs you wait in line for Pooh, your kiddos will get to play in a super fun area next to the line! There’s a small house to explore, interactive elements that activate when you step on or touch something, and more! The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Queue Tom Sawyer Island is a great break from a stroller and a wonderful opportunity for little kids (and big kids too) to explore caves, an interactive fort, run across a barrel bridge, play on a playground and more! Plus the raft ride to and from the island is fun on its own!įind the rafts to Tom Sawyer Island right next to Big Thunder Mountain. Don’t skip this!! Especially if you have kids that like to explore! I feel like so many people skip over Tom Sawyer Island - either because they don’t really know it exists or don’t know what there is to do over there. This play area is small so keep that in mind personally I wouldn’t stress going out of your way for this one but if you’re in the area waiting anyways, spend a few minutes there! Tom Sawyer Island The rides with seat belts are ones like Dumbo The Flying Elephant where you move around, but there’s not any crazy fast movements or anything. I think the idea of this one is a fun space to entertain kids who are not yet tall enough to ride Splash Mountain. Disney World rides are mostly great for people of all sizes, but there are some that could have some challenges for people who are plus size or who are really tall. The Laughing Place play area is a small spot next to the Splash Mountain queue. This splash area is currently unavailable but hopefully it will reopen soon! Splash Mountain Laughing Place Play Area You’ll find this spot across from the Barnstormer attraction. I always bring bathing suits and towels in a wet bag if I know we’re going to spend time here. This splash area at the Magic Kingdom is a lot of fun! The theming is great and my kids really enjoy this in the Summer months. The Dumbo playground is a great spot to hide from the rain too since it’s indoors! Casey Jr. Just let the cast member know if you’d like to play. When you pass the entrance to the play area before boarding the ride, you’ll have the choice to stay and play or bypass and go directly to the ride. You’ll find this play area inside the actual Dumbo attraction queue. The Dumbo playground is an all-time favorite for my kids! They ask to play here every time we visit the Magic Kingdom and they never want to leave! Magic Kingdom Playgrounds Dumbo the Flying Elephant Queue Playground Let’s take a look at all of the play areas inside Magic Kingdom. Did you know that you can find a variety of fun play areas at the parks? My kids absolutely love these playgrounds - even more than rides some days! Whether it be favorite rides, shows, or character meets, there is something for everyone at the parks. All four of the theme parks at Walt Disney World are loaded with fun.
